About Us

Meet the team at Treeline Native Nursery.

Founders

It was Diane Colemans love of growing plants, in particular New Zealand natives, coupled with the desire of spending more time with her then five-year-old son, Sam, that led to the beginning of Treeline Native Nursery in 1996.
Located in rural Kaharoa, Rotorua at 419m above sea level, Treeline Native Nursery is high altitude, with a cold climate. The ideal environment to produce New Zealand native plants.
From the outset Diane believed in the importance of growing healthy, robust natives to supply planting projects throughout the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and further. This along with her commitment to eco-sourcing saw Treeline grow into the nursery it is today.

Who we are now

Growing up to now share his Mother’s passion Treeline continues to be family owned and operated nearly 30 years later with Diane’s son Sam Edmonds and his wife Caroline taking the reins in 2023 as second generation owners.
Sam and Caroline have had the honour of witnessing the nursery evolve over the years and are proud to carry Treeline into the future. With up to 20 staff the nursery produces over a half a million plants each year. Treeline Native Nursery continues to believe in the importance of growing quality eco-sourced plants along with the additional ideals and values of sustainability, ethical practices and community support.

Our commitment: Growing quality native plants through sustainable and ethical practices.

Treeline are members of New Zealand Plant Producers Incorporation (NZPPI) and Plant Pass New Zealand. We believe it is our responsibility to protect the biosecurity of our New Zealand native flora and fauna along with the need for and importance of sustainability through processes in place such as sterilising and reusing our plastic pots and trays and the introduction of recyclable bulk cell trays.
Whether your project is a handful of plants for the garden, 1,000 plants for a commercial planting or 100,000+ plants for a restoration project we look forward to meeting your needs and working alongside you to achieve your planting projects intended goal.
